RIP
Hyperactive the Internet Cafe
Hyperactive
closed down on Friday the 25th of October 2002. It was a sad day
for us to have to shut down one of the South West's oldest and
finest
independent Internet Cafes. The cause of this sudden demise was
Railtrack who owned the building we occupied, they increased the
rent to such a point that carrying on trading was no longer economically
possible. We are currently talking to the Phoenix Arts Centre on
Gandy Street about relocating the PC's into their building. As
soon
as we have confirmation of this move we will post information here.
We would like to thank all our customers for their support over
the years. UPDATE: 25/10/03
Well it's exactly one year since the unfortunate demise
of Hyperactive, and sadly there is no happy ending to this story.
The Phoenix move has not happened and is unlikely to. This page
will remain here as a testament to the hard work and dedication
that went into the cafe, which was more for the love of the place
and the people than for financial gain. If you would
like to leave a message please use our condolence
book. View the
hall of fame or wall
of shame depending on how you view it :) CREDITS
We feel it is necessary to mention a few people
who have helped us over the years. John Parker
(The man who had the original vision to open the internet cafe,
although at that time it was called Internet Express, John now lives
and works in the U.S.A. for Microsoft)
Will Pollard
(The man who made Hyperactive possible)
Lawrence Herbert
(Originally a partner in Hyperactive who went on to bigger and better
things, also the creator of Net
Time the ultimate Internet Cafe management software package
that was conceived at Hyperactive)
Kris Sum
(A constant source of support for the cafe, including hardware
support, in real emergency situations he always came up with the
goods) Mike Harris
and Iain Kennedy
(These guy's have been very generous over the years, they host this
site and have helped out with Linux in moments of great need) All
the best guys and we really are truly grateful for all your support.
Best regards
Jon Mackie and Sam Smith
